Rain, Rain, Go Away...

Rain is grace; rain is the sky condescending to the earth; without rain, there would be no life.
~(John Updike)

It rained ALL day today!  It was cool and  dreary!  But that's okay, I enjoy the rain!  So what does one do when it's raining out?  I cleaned like a maniac!  LOL!  DH and I, took down books from bookshelves, wiping things down, did every piece of laundry, moved furniture just to vacuum underneath, and most importantly, cleaned up my "Photo-Studio!" now the only thing in there is the backdrop and my tripod!  Now where is that "Open for Business" sign?

Gosh I wish I had something really interesting to say, but I am EXHAUSTED!  I can barely keep my eyes open!  This is day 8!  Have a great Thursday everyone!

Appreciating Warmth.

"Sweet springtime is my time is your time is our time for springtime is love time and viva sweet love." -- e.e. cummings

I appreciate the little things in life.  As simple as a blossoming tree.  I guess you learn to appreciate things like that when you are faced with winter, 9 months out of the year.  And although, Sunday's record heat of nearly 75 only lasted for a brief moment, as we are again back to the 60's, it was well worth being outdoors the entire time!  Today seemed like the first time in a long time, I've stayed indoors, you can bet the house needed some cleaning up!  We went over to a friends house for BBQ yesterday, and the day was gorgeous, a little colder, but just enough cloud cover for gorgeous photos!  I packed up the camera.. and forgot the memory card at home!  Now, DH loves me, but apparently not enough to go back home and get my card!  But I did, just as he said, "Enjoy the moment!"  So, although the scenery up there is gorgeous, with it's vast mountains, lush greens, a beautiful path way to the park... I've got no pictures.

So instead here are some pics from another day at a park!

Here is day seven!
Take care everyone!  Tomorrow is a day to catch up with the rest of house work, maybe plan on planting some sort of garden, LOL, (as if you all read my blog this time last year, I don't think I have that many faithful readers LOL) I could not keep my ONE plant alive!  Take care!

Fun-Filled Weekend.

The grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." -- Joseph Addison

It has been a busy weekend.  Sunday was the first service to our new location for our church!  And it was amazing!  I literally ran to the parking lot, excited to begin my first day as team leader for the children's ministry.  Albeit, that day was extremely hectic and busy as everyone tries to find their way around the place.  But it was fun, it's funny how the sermons always seem to be directed at you!  I love being around the kids and helping them learn the Word.  Later that afternoon, the military community had a picnic and it was a gorgeous day (and hot!)  The sun beamed down, so unfortunately, it makes for overexposed photos! So this is the only one I kept! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

A Beautiful Weekend Is On It's Way!

Wow.. it's been so gorgeous up here in The Last Frontier.  I mean.. I can't complain, I sat out in the sun and roasted!  Here is day 4 of my the Purpose Driven Life.  Again, a lot of journaling, I can't seem to cut it short!

Well I'm off to find my summer clothes!  I really don't have much since, last summer it did not get as warm so quick, so I may have to do some shopping!  But to my luck, once I buy them, chances are it will be freezing again!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Just Photos.

Just sharing some photos from a day spent with Anna and her family.  Her husband cooked up a great BBQ meal along with Anna's pink lemonade!  We enjoyed sitting out in the sun, hanging out at the park, and chasing the kids everywhere!  What can I say, I've strayed from the computer for a while, and just basking in Alaska's unusual warm weather, up to the 70's today!

Here's Luke all comfy enjoying the great outdoors!

What can I say, Ella is truly a photogenic child! I could not resist!

Isabel calls them "her girls"!

I should be back on in the morning to post my Day 4, of a Purpose Driven Life.. I hope everyone enjoys their I will be basking out in the sun!

Trust Yourself.

Just trust yourself, then you will know how to live.  ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

Do recall your life at the young age of 10?  Where did you live?  What were your favorite songs, colors, food?  Who were your best friends?  What did your house look like?  Can you recall much?  I read some where that at the age of 10 was the last time you trusted your instincts.  You didn't listen to the opinions of your mother, your sister, or your friends because you simply had your own.  As I watch my 10 year old  try to figure out what to wear to school, I'll give him a shirt that I think would look good with his jeans, He will say, "Nah, not me.." and then pick his own things.. and look in the mirror, and say, "Yeah that is me!"  I thought to myself, there was a time I trusted my own instincts, and there were no second or third guesses.  So with this being said.. I am working out my photography business plan. I think I have second guessed myself way to long!  I am creating a portfolio of photos, (which I have tons of!), making it a point to ask people to do a photoshoot for me, so I can practice, and figuring out how to get a webpage and domain up and running!

What a great day today as we unveiled our new place of worship, a new place of refuge, and a new place of community.  Our local church has purchased a huge building, the size of just the children ministries alone is almost the size of a football field!  As of today, I am officially a team leader for the children's minsitries!  And I am so excited at what God has in store for me!  Our vision:  To build a team to deliver God-filled experiences that compel children to pursue total life change!

This is a zoo album I quickly made from a trip to San Diego Zoo back in 1997.  I got the idea from Anna to use fabric as a cover for the album!

And now day 3 of a Purose Driven Life Journal, it's all about the journaling here, otherwise I would have loved to add a little more pizazz to it.

Purpose Driven Life.

I'm going through the pages of this book once again.  But this time, Maria inspired me to create a scrapbook of my journey! What a great idea!  Thanks Maria!

Here is day one and two:

No words of wisdom today!  But I do have a song stuck in my head, Matthew West's  Only Grace  I bought it at itunes today, and when I hear something new, it stays on repeat for a while! here are some of the lyrics:

There is no guilt here
There is no shame
No pointing fingers
There is no blame
What happened yesterday has disappeared
The dirt has washed away
And now it's clear

There's only grace
There's only love
There's only mercy and believe me it's enough
Your sins are gone
Without a trace
There's nothing left now
There's only grace

You're starting over now
Under the sun
You're stepping forward now
A new life has begun
Your new life has begun

I hope everyone has an awesome Wednesday!  Talk soon!

Becoming ONE.

"The wife is a reflection of a man's Glory!"  1Cor. 11:7

Sundays are always amazing. Maybe it's because it's a breath of fresh air from a long week, or a refresher to kickstart a new week.  I've officially signed up to be a part of the team at church.  It's been a calling I've had in my heart.  There has always been a special place for children in my heart, (that could be the reason why everyone drops their kids off here, LOL!  But I love it!) And after toying with the idea of becoming a group leader for the children, I've decided that this is where God will use me for a while.  My love for photography will also be utilized as I will be apart of the photography/video team.  I am so excited, and it will give me a chance to grow with Christ and my passion for photography!

On our DVR list is Joel Olsteen and we absolutely love his sermons.. it always feels like it hits you straight to the heart!  Last night he talked about marriages and families.  How fitting for our 10 year Anniversary.  From my notes (yes I take notes at home) this is what I'd love to share:

  • A great marriage consists of two things: We as a couple will be committed to God, speak the word with one another and go to church together. Do what you can to become people of excellence and integrity.  We as a couple, are committed to one another.  Forgive one another and move on.
  • Learn to become one.  Make sacrifices and be willing to compromise.  Sometimes people who say that they are just not compatible, it's just a selfish way of not willing to change.  ***I have to add to this, for our anniversary, one of the things my DH did was go to the LSS and buy his own paper, embelishments, and an album. He is, as we speak, creating an album about us.  His journaling is always so poignant and clever.. I cannot wait to share them!
  • Learn to let things go.  Don't keep a running list of disagreements.  Don't go back to the past. Let it go, start each day afresh and anew.
  • Agree to disagree.  Disagreements will happen, no two people are alike.  When in a disagreement, present your case, share your heart, and step back and let God do His work.

Then he goes to talk about the husbands.  Did you know that the latin word for husband, is house-band. Much like a rubber band, husbands keep a marriage together.

  • Compliments are like a glue that hold a relationship together.
  • Husbands, praise your wife.  Talking out the good, draws out the good.
  • Speak blessings over your wife, everyday.

Well, I didn't mean to bore everyone.  But what I heard yesterday, touched my heart. And even though some of you may not be celebrating anniversaries. But I feel that everyday should be lived as if it was a celebration.

SK8er BOYS & Scrappin Scraps!

I can't wait to scrap these photos of my boys doing what they love the most, skateboarding!  They've got the "Hawk" boards, custom made to their liking, and the entire "skateboarder-thrash-look!"  I told myself, I would never get my boys shoes that cost more than mine, and I did!  Those Etnies are $80 bucks a pop!  Gotta love em though, I'm about to get me a pair!  I can't wait to use the Basic Grey Line, Skate Shoppe to scrap all these "Air-Photos" I've got of them!  That will be the next project.  Here are some that I've already done:

I enjoyed making these quick albums, and both were done using scraps!

Friends Albums

I need to really learn to use what I've got.. And since I've been scrappin with Anna , I've seen her make good use of all her scraps! So these were done with scraps and older paper!

Ten Years.

Ten Years.  A Decade. We celebrate our anniversary on Sunday.

This was taken in 1993.
The year was 1992, I was a freshman, he was a Sophomore.  The bell rings, it's 5th period, Health Class with Ms. Myers.  I'd get excited because he, was in my class.  Mr. Clean Cut, All Gap, Computer Whiz, Trigonometry/Calculus Lovin, and basically a good-guy all around! sat behind me in class.. and I looked forward to our daily innuendo lingo's (aka flirtations!)  He'd poke my back, wanting to tell me something.  And me, I would find every excuse just to try to exchange a glance or to borrow something, "Can I borrow a pencil?"  Of course I had like a dozen of em in my bag!  Conversations led to dates and next thing you know, I am spending every minute of my day with this guy.  The rest is, well.. history.

True.  Everyone's got a story .  But not everyone has a testimony. Our love is living proof of God's unending love for His children and through Him anything is possible.  Our happiness shines from the Grace that has been bestowed upon us.  I will end this with a quote my hubby left on the board for me one day:

Faith sees the INVISIBLE.
Believes the INCREDIBLE.
And receives the IMPOSSIBLE.
