Creative Jump Start!

I'm ba-aaa-ccck!

So what does one do when one does not blog for several days?

A LOT! (And I think I could devote an entire week of sharing all the things you could do, when you stop blogging for a while...)

This is first though.  It's one thing to take photos for an amazing family and for them to like them so much that they are willing to purchase the ENTIRE CD of photos!  BUT... it is another thing to see them SCRAPPED!  Okay, this has to be the ultimate high of any avid scrapbooker (slash) photographer. To see their stuff in PRINT and SCRAPPED! (No words, ladies.. NONE)  Can you just imagine a big Ol' smile on my face!  (Julie you are awesome girl.. and I'm digging your scrapping sytle..)

Alright, so with some time off, it literally is like placing a defibrillator to  your creative mojo.  It kickstarts all your senses when you are able to actually stop and take the time to enjoy life's little wonders.  One of which has to be my family and the children I care for. From photo shoots that are new to me, to creating greeting cards, and to watching the House marathon. I'm always looking for new ways to kick start my creative flow! And sometimes, you need to give up other things in order to focus more on others!  It has already began to snow here, and I love it!

More to come! Have a great day!

On Repeat!

Been loving this song from Superchick and have been waiting for it on itunes and finally got it.. Words speak volume!  Going to take a break from blog land.  Have a great day!

She never slows down
She doesn't know why but,
She knows that when
Shes all alone,
it feels Like its all, coming down
She won't turn around
The shadows are long
And she fears if she cries
That first tear
The tears will not stop
Raining down
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when its all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain
She won't make a sound
Alone in this fight with herself
And the fears whispering
If she stands, she'll fall down
She wants to be found
The only way out is through
Everything she's running from
Wants to give up and lie down
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when its all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain

Your word for the day is S-U-C-C-E-S-S.
Definition please? {n 1: an event that accomplishes its intended purpose.}

How do you define it? This thought comes in light of exciting news from a dear friend whose photography business is soaring into new heights.. (I'm still dancing "Smack That!" girl!)  But I also thought of this after seeing proofs of a photo shoot of a little girl indoors with her new D200.  Then this thought never fails every time my dear friend comes to pick up her children after a days work.  Then there's the graphic designer friend who is the answer to my question,  "Who I want to be when I grow up" (Yes, I want to pursue a career in graphic arts, as soon as I get my butt back in school!)  Or seeing a picture of a friend who had set up a digital scrapbooking booth in an expo about  home based businesses.  I even think of success when I look into my friend's newborn baby's eyes.  All whom are soaring to the skies in my eyes.  Everyone of these ladies define success in thier own way.  Well of course as I was reading one of my many comfort books, I came across several definitions of being successful and I threw some of my own in there too!

Success Is:

  • Having enough time to pursue personal pursuits that bring you pleasure.
  • Having enough time to make sure you let your family know you love them!
  • Having time to nurture your soul.
  • Knowing that if today was your last day on earth, you could leave with no regret.
  • Is knowing that you've done the best you possibly can
  • Accepting your limitations.
  • Making peace with your past.
  • Revealing your passions so that your future may unfold.
  • It's discovering and calling forth your gifts and offering them to the world.
  • It's making a difference in other's lives.
  • Not the amount of money you have in the bank, but a contended heart, and peace of mind.
  • It's not about accumulating but letting go, because all you have is all you really need.
  • It's about feeling good about who you are and appreciating where you've been.
  • It's about celebrating the achievements and honoring all you've done.
  • It is the steady pursuit of a dream and realizing that no matter how long it takes for your dream to come true.. no day is ever wasted.
  • It is being grateful for the many blessings that has been bestowed upon you.
  • IT IS LIVING EACH DAY WITH A HEART THAT IS OVERFLOWING!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!!  I'm already there! {smile}

Happy s{CRAP}ing!!!

So here's the deal.. I've got a lot of {CR} or {SC} rap.  So I've been scrapping...

Are you like me?  I save the new stuff.. in fear I will ruin them with the Not So Good Pictures.. You know save the really good papers for the really good pics. Oh well, I am loving the imperfect.. non staged and a bit blurred shots!! So time to scrap!  I tend to collect things.. espicially paper.  So this time I'm chopping them.. and using them!  I finally found the new line by Crate Paper and they are gorgeous!  I finished the Celebration Album, where I celebrated my birthday with the guys.. Nothing interesting enough to share.. most of my layouts are collage-style like these:

02_3    03_3

But some pages are a bit more interesting like this.  I love this shot of my friend and her DH.. they are always so cute like that!

01_7

And there is Anna and I.. doing our "Thang."  Can you tell this gang does not miss a shot!  With two 20D's in action!

04_3

And now I'm trying to fill this American Craft 3 Ring Binder (thanks to Lynne who gave me a giftcard to Two Peas for my Bday!) with my Spring and Summer pictures.  My goal is to use my Bucket-O-Scraps.  (After I slice and dice these papers, I put them in a tupperware which becomes my Bucket-O-Scraps.

Happy {S}crappin to all!!

Welcome Little One.

Img_8431
Welcome to the world, Little Edyn (this is the best I could do under flourescent lighting! and no flash, so I did not blind the baby!).  I've been a Bad Blogger!  As you know I had Anna's kids all this past week. So yes, I've been on my feet.  Not to mention hubby is on this shift schedule which allows him to conveniently not be home for the hectic part of my day.  So, I looked forward to my rest day, Saturday.  Ah.. a day where I could sleep in a little longer, where hubby could take care of the kiddos while I retreat to the mall or scrapbook store.  But a phone call at 1am Saturday morning, (as I sat with my boys and the neighborhood children in the dark, another sleep over watching Friday the 13 movies and anything scary...)  My friend said her water broke!!!

As nervous as I could be.. I told her, "Hold it in.. it's my REST day!"  Ha ha!  I got some rest, but joined her in the morning to witness a life being brought into this world!  And it was amazing!  However, the hospital said I could not take pictures from her leg up.. I had to stand behind her!!  (Military rule I guess.) So I set the camera to the side and just held her hands!!!  Wow, no matter how tired I was, it was worth it.  Such a joyous occasion. And I've been dying to photograph a little baby!

I'm finally recovering from lack of sleep only to find, I am so blessed with such sweet people... with emails like this:

"By the way, where are you? I hope everything is fine and you're just resting."

"just checking up on you, are you okay.. I hope so"

"you have been heavy on my heart girl....and hubby. what's going on? email me"

You ladies are SO thoughtful!!!  I am here and okay.. and yes just getting some rest and stayed steer clear from the internet to cuddle with hubby and spend time with my kiddos.

All is well on this side of the world.  I've got a photoshoot next week, a family of 3 little girls!!! I'm so excited!  Here are some rough drafts of business cards that I am working on:

Renee???

Img_5382copy

So...... Anna called from Vegas.. while she's at the show, right?!  And she's you know standing in the Simple Scrapbooks booth.. you know, chillin with Lynda, Molly, and uhm.. yeah Renee Pearson !  And she says.. "Here someone wants to say Hi to you!"  And I'm like "Okay?" And SHE says:

"Hello Ronalyn!"

"This is Renee, Renee Pearson!"

(I'm fanning myself.. sweating a bit.. and oh yeah, screaming!)

"Renee, oh my gosh!  Hi.. Wow.. Hi.. (insert stutter!)

She then says, "I love your blog.. and I love your photography!"

(What Renee, you know little ol me?  We are talking about  THIS  Renne, the digi queen!!  Who totally Rocks!)

She then says "Look at your blog! I left you a note!"  And as I was talking to her, I kept refreshing my page.. but oddly enough it was not there!!  (Insert Aww...) Cause I would have so printed that out and scrapped it!!

Anna goes on to say that the rest of the Simple Scrapbooks crew said they were sorry they missed me in this show and that I should defintely try and make the next one! Ahh.. my foot's in the door.  A few months ago.. as I was doing the question and quizzes magazine from SS.. there was this  layout with the question of what I would like to achieve.. and I wrote.. (not knowing what I know now), that I wanted to get my foot in Simple Scrapbook's Door!  What can I say?  Dream.. And Dream BIG!

Re-enactment

00_2
That was me, back in the 6th/7th grade?  Dancing the hula for the May Day Festivities.  Cause you know "May Day is Lei Day in Ha-va-ee" (a song stuck in my head..)  So what does a mom of (now) 2 girls do upon revisiting this picture (only to prove to 2 little girls, that when I was young, I had moves like they've never seen even better Cinderella!)  Their faces lit up and they were completely fascinated, while my head level completely broke record high as I listened to 2 little girls rant and rave about their Ms. Ronalyn (yes Isabel calls me Ms. Ronalyn too because Ella does! ha ha!)  So.. what do you think this creative, imaginative, playful, and Ms. Starlit of a woman does?

Img_7999

That's right, grab an old bed sheet, cut in half and wrap these 2 little cuties up!  (I'm glad they did not turn the camera on me!! hint: I looked just like them just not as cute!)  And I relived the memories of being the highlight of the show, a hula dancer, dancing to the Hawaiian lyrics of a woman expressing the beauty of the island..

Img_8008

It was the perfect picture moment, don't you think?  More cute shots of our day in that album to the right!  They were so cute mimicking my every move!!

Alright off to help my 6th grader with his book report, one of which is a "Character Scrapbook!"  Hmm.. you know who is control of that one, huh?  I've been good, and like DH said to "Back off and let him do his  own work.."  So I've just been hovering over him that's all!! Giving some "helpful design tips!"  He made one when he was in the 4th grade and all the teachers loved it, they actually posted it in the library. So they asked him to do another one. And Yes, he did that one by himself too.. it was the idea of having the characters being actual photographs instead of drawn in or cut from the magazine was my suggestion. (He and his brother portrayed as the main characters, while DH was being portrayed as their uncle. I had the kids, put glasses on and reconstructed their facial expressions to create the feel of the novel!)  That's all I did!  ha!  Well, you mom's out there of school aged children know what it's like when your child has a project, we like to get into it and sometimes I admit, I tend to take over!!

Alright, Happy Wednesday to you!

A Zillion and One...

Img_7534
...things I want to do.  Who eats standing up? That would be me trying to tank down a sandwhich during the day while doing the zillion other things! I can literally do the dishes, dress baby dolls, comfort a little one, and start dinner at 11 am all at once.  Multi-tasking is my middle name.  Sometimes I feel like I am always on the go. Then I try to sit and read a the latest SS magazine while the kids are content, but my mind sets adrift to the next thing I want to do..and then the next.  I'm constantly visualizing ad's or photographs and even scrapbook pages I long to scrap. Somedays I can't settle and for some reason, I like those days.. It's a sudden rush of energy literally flowing through my fingertips.  I feel so productive. So today was one of those days!  It was a list oriented kind of day resulting in a completely "checked-out" day!

Anna is away for the week and I just wanted to let her know that I added an album for you to the right of the blog titled:  While You Are Away   I will update it with daily pictures to help ease your mind!

By now you've noticed the new header! My oldest took these pics yesterday for the "About Me" section in my Photography Site and I adored them!  It went right above my DH's brilliant words as he described us as photographers!

Off to get the blueberry muffins out of the oven, set my coffee machine, put away those 5 loads of laundry, do another one before I call it a night, put away the dishes, vacuum, and finish this blog!  Ha!  All in a days work!  I hope to have something more heartfelt and interesting tomorrow!  LOL! Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Nuttin' But the Best.

Img_7701

"What are we uniquely designed to do TOGETHER that we cannot do alone?"

That was the question of the day at church as we start on this four part series of what God's vision is for the very best in love and marriage.  Very form fitting for both my husband and I, who look back at a decade of marriage and see all that we've been through to get to where we are today.  And all we can say is "God is good!" Through pain, He carried us to healing.  Through the dark and lonely nights, He kept that light of hope shining just enough for us to keep on believing.  Through the guilt and shame, he poured out His grace upon us. We stood tall through it all. He made us stronger.  He built our faith.  He is rebuilding the marriage every day. And we know that the only way our marriage can survive is to place God first and foremost in our marriage. Trying to salvage our marriage without Him, is like planting a seed in infertile soil. There is no growth.  It slowly becomes a "love-less" marriage. We have learned that without the common bond of having God becoming the center of our lives, and our marriage and our family, we simply stand in this world with no foundation. I believe we were designed  to discover the Truth together in this newly found "union" our "divine marriage", we hail it to be our Spiritual Adventure together.

I am the mother that did not pay the yearly school photographer $30 for their smallest picture package for some person to take a 2-second shot of my kid who probably blinked!  My kids did take photos for the yearbook, but they will not be passing out cheesy photos on "Exchange Your Photos Day!"  No Sir-ree they are exchanging something like these!

Fall_photos_copy

Over the years I've dealt with photos with stars as a backdrop that clearly clashed with their outfit. Not to mention the forced smile that clearly says, "Cheeeeeesssse" Nope not anymore.  Not when your mama is a photographer!

I am scheming up ways for some business growth opportunities. I began photographing the neighborhood kids, which has turned out to be a success.  Kids love to take their pictures and parents love to see what I've captured.  I've had several opportunities to replace the "cheesy" school pictures in turn portraying children as they are in what ever grade level they may be. Clearly these photos shows that this is my Ethan today, 8 years old, a third grader, who simply loves skateboarding! And that my friend, is what capturing memories is all about!

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  I will be a full house tomorrow and we are all holding our breath as our friend is getting closer to her due date!  Have a happy Monday!

Giggly.

Img_7402web

It was just one of those days, where even though I had very little sleep, 4 hours to be exact, and yes that is how I get caught up on my tv shows!  LOL!  It was a really good day!  I got several things accomplished as far as the home chores and work.  I am on top of the laundry, cleaning, and menu for next week!  And despite having my two daycare children, I did get some photo packages ordered and ready to be shipped by Monday, and I did some fun digi scrapping for a friend. I am creating an album for her daughter's first 2 years.  She just saved a bunch of photos on a disk, I did a little photo shop to them, and wa-lah a digital page is born and printed.

Brynn_24_copy

And the kids and I just had fun!  We played out for quite some time as soon as the sun peeked through. We walked along the neighborhood looking for Halloween Decorations and playing "I Spy Pumpkins!"  I am hosting a baby shower this weekend.  And the email was brilliantly titled, "Keri's Not So Surprised Baby Shower!"  I tell you, you can't keep nothin from that woman! So being the procrastinator, (well I prefer to save the best things for last) I am working out the details now. I hope everyone will have a great weekend!  I am preparing for a very busy upcoming week.  My good friend, Anna is taking a business trip to Memory Trends to hang out with the gang, you know like Cathy Z !  And I have taken the role of caring for her children while she is gone.  Her DH is in the academy right now, so as of next week, I will be the mother of 5!  **Oh and if my friend has the baby by Thursday, then I will take her older daughter and have 6!  (Anyone else want to drop of their kid!  ha ha) What can I say, I am a sucker for kids!

I hope everyone has a great weekend.  It is time to watch some of those Thursday night shows (at 1am!)  ha!
