I'm sure it happens to everyone. You are sitting there doing your own thing.. and then you hear a song, that literally plays this melody in your heart, it pulls on your heart strings.
For a while Joss Stone has been the only playlist on my iPod. I've bought her new album, but I went ahead and got her other albums as well! (Thanks to my girl Adrienne, who called today, how sweet! Love talking to that girl! And she mentioned a few songs and that was enough to buy the other albums!)
So here's the thing:
I honestly believe people generally have good intentions. People just want to help, I get that. But sometimes you have to let people go, free to make their own decisions. Much like children, you can guide them in the early years. But you have to let them live their life and trust them enough to make the right decisions or learn from past mistakes. A person will never set flight, if you are constantly hovering over them making sure they are following your path. I do believe people come in your life for a reason. But when that season is over, it's just that, over. Life comes with many experiences that we face everyday, good and bad. And the only way, we can experience life, is to live it, to go through it. It's nice to have a shoulder to cry on, rather than someone placing a frown on your every move. No one likes to be placed under such scrutiny. Because at the end of the day, that person's happiness is all that matters.
I don't know about you, but some of my life's hardest lessons has gotten me a step closer to being this woman I've always dreamed I could be. If my mistakes have made me stronger, so be it. If my faults have made me love harder, appreciate life more, and given me to courage to stand up. Then who am I to go through my life with padded cushions surrounding me with the constant fear of the unknown. Why that's a part of life, you go through the motions, you fall and pick yourself back up. So, with all that said, Hit it Joss:
I've got a right to be wrong
My mistakes will make me strong
I'm stepping out into the great unknown
I'm feeling wings though I've never flown
I've got a mind of my own
I'm flesh and blood to the bone
I'm not made of stone
Got a right to be wrong
So just leave me alone
I've got a right to be wrong
I've been held down too long
I've got to break free
So I can finally breathe
I've got a right to be wrong
Got to sing my own song
I might be singing out of key
But it sure feels good to me
Got a right to be wrong
So just leave me alone
Hanging with the girls after a day at the spa! I just got the pictures and I can't wait to scrap them!

i LOVE what you are doing with that "she" album. and i totally get it...digital is amazing, but sometimes you just need to FEEL the creation come alive beneath your hands. and about the joss stone lyrics... i have to say, i actually LOVE the paragraphs you wrote ABOVE the lyrics better than the lyrics to the song itself. not familiar with Joss, i wasn't sure what to expect, and at first i thought your words WERE the lyrics. i am actually going thru some difficulties with my mom right now (control issues and all) so YOUR words hit home and gave me that good little "ping" inside. thanks.
