On-Location-Love

I'm beginning to think that On-Location Photography is my "Thing"... I really enjoy it.. It brings back that spark (more like a fire) back to what seems to be a dwindling flame at times.. It brings back  my love, my love for photography that is...

I joined my girlfriend, Paula for an on-location shoot of a newborn (I helped her with this little guy's mom's maternity photos, which I'm still waiting to see from Paula because it was so much fun teaching Paula)...So when we heard she had the baby, we were dying to get our hands on him!

I've been dying to use this fruit bowl from Pier 1...

And this one had to be my favorite.. you know.. Thee Shot.. right after you take it, you already know how you want it took and you just  know it's the one that makes this experience all worth it..

Wanted.

Over the weekend, the hubby and I went to see this:

Wanted

Oh yes.. it was an over the top, action packed, and action packed.. (yes said it twice) because it was like a non-stop gun-blazing party!  It was that good and then some.  It made me feel like getting on a shooting range and shooting things up!  (Which is on my To-Do list this summer).  And yes I do like Angelina Jolie.. I know she may be looked down upon.. I can't see why?  She is one amazing actress and not to mention one  "HAWT" momma! So if you're up for some action, go check this out!

I will be busy this week, in photo editing.. I had a huge (I mean a 20+ family shoot) this weekend.. and I want to get started on that.. not to mention a couple from last week.  I will be updating my Twitter (Twitter name: ronalynbarut) so come and tweet with me!

Double "D"s

A double date that is:

Doubledate

Enjoyed a nice Friday evening with some good food (sushi), good friends (Keri and Dag), and good conversations (literally laughing our butts off).  Rudy and I always thought we were the funny ones, well it seems as though we met our match! From Sushi Vs. Steaks, to Camping in their Westfalia VW, to being regular in the dietary department, to the guys going to a Paintball Range while the ladies learn to fire some real weapons at a shooting range, to a 4 year old who tells it like it is, while watching an almost 2 year old squirm when Rudy gets too near, to dogs fetching in the middle of ongoing traffic... I think it's safe to say the night went really well!  Guys I thought I had ongoing Random Blatherings in my head.. meanwhile you guys actually speak of those Randomness in your heads!  It was FUN and we shall do it again!

Random Ronalyn.

I love driving solo... that's the time I wish I had a stenographer attached to my hip to write down my thoughts word for word, in this case, thought for thought.  No rhyme or reason.. just random blathering..

  • I am simply not made to live here.. Alaska that is... I am an "island" girl. I like sun..  So, tourist lady that came to the store the other day who told me that I would rather be here than join the heat wave on the lower 48.. you are so wrong!  Even though I smiled and said how beautiful Alaska is and sold her a bunch of Alaska die cuts claiming this place is so beautiful! .. No, I want to be where the sun shines against my skin until it fricken burns off!  Seriously!  I don't even remember what 65 degrees feels like.. Not the kind of 65 degrees where it feels that way only under direct sunlight for an hour.. but in the shade too.. or in my house too.  I like "heat"!  In fact I love filip-flops, tank tops, shorts, the smell of the ocean nearby, the feel of sand against my toes, the scent of suntan lotions, sweat dripping on my forehead, and taking multiple showers a day... I just love summers.. a real summer!
  • I guess when 8 hours pass in a flash.. that means I must love what I do?  There are days, I don't mind it.. being at the store all day.  In fact, when you do come visit me, you can bet your bare-bum, you will not find me sitting down.  I am always on the go.  There is always something to do.  So.. here's to a job that I don't mind sparing my 8 hours for.
  • Texting and driving... oh this should be so against the law... but I promise, I wait for the stop lights!
  • Do I look like an idiot when I sing my heart out while I'm driving? What the heck, I don't care..
  • Does anybody ever drive the speed limit?  Its like a race way out here!  "Ready. Set. Go. Let's see who will make it to the next red light first"!  C'mon people... slow down.  You know when I see a car speeding in my rear view mirror on the other lane.. then he comes behind me thinking that I will speed up so he can past that slow car in front of him... I slow down on purpose.. so I can trap him in front of two slower cars..! hee hee (insert evil laugh)

Been scrapbooking and watching the first episodes of "24"... Still an insomniac but I pay for it after a few days of staying up to late!  Off to enjoy a nice weekend with hubby who is off... dinner and movies tonight!

Micro-Blogging

Picture 3
As if they needed creative new ways to keep in touch with the world and the many strangers we meet in cyberspace.  But I've been swallowed by an entire new way of keeping socially in touch with the cyber world through Twitter.  Twitter is a service that allows users to send updates or "tweets" (text-based posts) through the Twitter Website.  At first I thought.. hmm, who would care what I'm doing at this very second?  But you should see all the people in Twitterville, it's huge!  And just like blogs, you get caught up in them... and soon enough you find yourself, twittering via online and via cell phone!  So on my way to the movies, I twitter... At the playground, I twitter again... It's that cool!  So, as if you need to sign up for anything new?  Yes, you do!  Find me on Twitterville, and you will be sure to more updated than my blog :)

There are days I can't blog even if my life depended on it!  Summer keeps this household busy. I finally signed the kids up for swimming lessons, Caelan will be doing soccer and guitar lessons, and I'm just trying to work and be the "fun" mom!  So, I admit, my blog-land will cease to exist during the summer.. but you can count on my 140 or less based texts via Twitter :)

Well, I think I've got Edward Norton out of my system.. (after I updated my Netflix cue with everything Ed Norton tonight I've got Fight Club to watch).. I've completely immersed myself in a TV Show.. it's an old show, I think they are finally in their 5th season... but it's one of those shows, once you start, you simply can't stop...

Picture 4

Yes.. the adventures of Jack Bauer in which each episode is an hour of his life.. Now why didn't I get started on this when it first started?  Regardless, hubby and I are hooked.. (line and sinker).

Well, it's back to scrapping for me.. I have a class to teach this weekend, and there's nothing like waiting till last minute :)

That Green Guy is Hot!

So... we went to watch the Hulk last night.  Now, I'm a bit of a Sci-fi fan here and there.  I dabble in the world of superheros.  I love Smallville and Heroes!  And I have come to love all the big movies that came to follow, Spiderman, Batman/Robin, Ironman (have not seen it, but I can only imagine), and now Hulk.  I am in no way a Marvel Comic Guru, like the hubby who submerges himself in comics.  I can only begin to tell you how many times we visited the comic/book store while we dated in high school.  Regardless, I don't mind watching these kinds of flick.  I also think with boys, it's almost a requirement to know your Marvel Comic Heroes (and villians).

So what did I think?  Well, in order to answer you throughly we will just have to rewind a bit and start from the beginning.  (What, there is a beginning? And nope, I'm not talking about the first Hulk, which as much as I love Eric Bana, I think this Hulk was a better production) By beginning, I'm talking about, when I first heard of this Hulk in production, I was a bit excited to hear that they were casting Edward Norton as the Hulk. Why?

Picture 5Picture 4EdNorton

Because I think he is Amazing!  It's not like he's the hottest guy in Hollywood (very close to being though)... he is a bit scrawny looking if you ask me.. but there is something about Ed Norton that simply draws you in.  I think it's the way he always seems so withdrawn or the way his eyes always seem so melancholy, that makes him such a mystery.  Or the way he seems like such a confident, sensitive, and passionate person.  Or maybe because he leads such a private life, away from all the spotlight that makes him seem like he could be the guy next door. There is absolutely something about Edward Norton that leaves you wanting to know more, or watch more!

After watching American X a while ago.. I knew he would be up there on my list of favorite, intriguing actors!

*Ed Norton in American History X (wowzas)

Back to the Hulk.. yes of course it was Amazing, mainly because Edward Norton was in it :)

2 Days In A Row...

  • The weather has been amazingly BEAUTIFUL!
  • I've been scrapping like crazy!  That's what happens when I have not done anything in a while, my hands start to itch.

Alright blogging Buddies.. I wanna see this on your blogs.. C'Mon.. I've RSS FEED you guys.. I will be checking!!!

By the way...

"You guys ready for some sushi?... By the way mom, the Dr. called back with the results, and you're cancer came back..."

As casual as it sounded.. that's how I broke the news to my mom. With news like this, there is no right or wrong way of breaking it to them, I guess.  (Minus the tears that I cried in the bathroom while I talked to her Dr.)... After over a year of being cancer-free, I feel like it's back to square one.  My mom stood there for a minute fixing her hair in the bathroom mirror, afraid she was gonna start bawling her eyes out, I stepped out to let her think about it.. Then from outside the bathroom, I heard her say, "I'm gonna have to go through chemo and radiation again.. and I'm gonna lose all of this again..." As she combed her hair.

I ran into the bedroom, where my hubby lay asleep (he's on mids) and I cried on my hands and knees... We held onto one another as I broke down like a fragile child. After a few minutes, I stood up.. wiped the tears away and vowed that I was gonna make the most of our day.. and thought  "F*** this news, I still have today, no one's going anywhere.. not today."  (Sorry if that offended you in any way just a tad bit upset)

So we did just that.. took off.  We ate some delicious sashimi, crunch roll, California rolls with tobiko, and spicy tuna!  It was delicious..  We went for a drive along Old Seward Highway.. stopping to enjoy the Wide Open Spaces.. Sitting outside, staring into the vast ocean, you are reminded that we are just a part of God's Master Plan.. and you just have to let go and trust in Him.  And ironically, despite such news... my spirits are high, all of ours.. cause today she's here with me and my family. And that's all that matters.

Weekend Recap.

There's something about Sundays...that make me want to hang on to the weekends.  They are never quite long enough!

Friday.
I hosted a crop at the store.  What was supposed to be a 12 man crop, turned out to be a 28 man crop! Needless to say, no playing and scrapbooking for me. I didn't even pack anything to scrap because I knew it would be more work than play.  These ladies that come to the crop are wonderful!  I love seeing the creative things they are doing!  And I got to hang out with Dulce and Bridget!

Saturday.
I enjoyed a day off. It was a nice lazy day!  I think we were on an Arnold Swarchenegger marathon, watching Eraser and True Lies, with the family in our sweats, not to mention the lovely imitation of Arnold's voice all day long from the hubby! Don't you just love lazy days, sitting on the sofa, watching old movies with the family? Later that afternoon, we rearranged our bedroom a bit after being given a bedroom set from Keri.  We hung out with them a bit, chit chatting, and playing with Harley, a cute Silver Lab!  Hubby and I sneaked away to have a quiet dinner at TGIF.  Although, it was not so quiet there!  We didn't quite make it to the movies. We wanted to catch the Hulk or The Happening.

Sunday. "Fahza Day"
Every time Father's Day rolls around, I think about that clip from Austin Powers where he talks about his "Fahza".. very very funny, (well to me!)

For Father's day.. I got him something he has been wanting:

Paintball

So he and my oldest got a set.  (Not sure how my son scored one too?)  But he's got a partner.  Me?  I said I would try it out.. granted I bruise with just a slight touch! So, we'll see. Although, I'm a sucker for  Laser Tag and I'm one big "child" when it comes to these games. I really don't give "kids"a fighting chance.

Then on Sunday I bought her stuff at Designer Digitals: very cool, go and grab some!

Aliedwards

So, I'm sat here at my computer trying to scrap, digitally that is.  Keeping things simple, journaling more than designing!

Bombay

And we got to use Skype for the first time!  (Anna, I don't see you signed in!!!)  Thank goodness for Technology!  And we got to talk to our good friends in Texas... It was so nice... We need to do it again, with the kids!

Picture 5

Off to do some driving around with the family tomorrow, it's supposed to be a nice day.. hmm.. we'll see. Enjoy your Monday.
